Before sharing a television with children, review the controls on the device and inside the IPTV player. A kids category or a list of favourites is not the same as a restriction. Settings differ between apps, so test the exact setup your household uses.
Check the device and the player separately
Device settings may restrict app installation or purchases. The player may separately offer a PIN, category locks or profile controls. Do not assume a restriction in one application protects every other application. Apple, for example, documents restrictions specifically for its Apple TV app; check the documentation for your own device and player.
Set up with an adult present
- Identify every app children can open on the shared device.
- Review the official parental-control instructions for each relevant app.
- Where supported, protect restricted categories and settings with a PIN children do not know.
- Review on-demand sections as well as live channels.
- Check purchase and installation restrictions on the device.
Keep recovery details in a private place. Do not reuse an account password as a PIN if the app permits a separate code.
Test what is actually blocked
Exit and reopen the player, then try opening restricted content through search, favourites, recently watched items and the normal category list. Check whether a PIN is required after restarting the device. If hiding a category still leaves its content searchable, treat it as an organizational feature rather than an access restriction.
Review after updates or playlist changes
New categories or app updates may change what appears. Recheck the controls after a significant change and on each device in the household. Do not assume a setting made on a phone automatically applies to the television.
Before choosing a subscription
During a DreamIPTV trial, test whether the player on your device provides the controls you need. Ask support about available options without assuming every player supports profiles or category locks. If suitable restrictions are unavailable, use adult supervision or choose an application that meets your household’s needs.
For installation help, use the setup guide. For other plan questions, review our buying checklist and Ontario household guide. No parental-control setting replaces checking what a child can actually access.
